New Fulbright scholars join the university

In this academic year two Fulbright scholars from the USA have joined the collective of Liepaja University - English language Professor Martha Lee Alexander and English Language Teacher Assistant Patricia Corey.

Both specialists will mainly work with Faculty of Humanities and Arts study programs "European Language and Culture Studies" students.

Specialists from the United States will work with Dagnija Deimante, English Teacher at the Faculty of Humanities and Arts, who says about this opportunity: "I will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the methods and techniques used in the US educational system and for students to improve their language skills. Taking into account that Professor also writes poetry, we can use it for the development of creative writing for students. For me personally, it will be an invaluable opportunity for broadening my horizons by learning other cultural people".

Patricia Corey, which has just got a bachelor's degree in the United States, has roots in Latvia: "In my early memories of the Latvian grandmother I am four years old, and my grandmother says to me - "“pelīte, pelīte, nedari tā!”" (mouse, mouse, do not do that! "These memories formed my childhood as well my art, world literature and language studies".

Patricia has also studied in Moscow and is now hoping to find out about more on her country of roots - Latvia, working at Liepaja University and 5th Secondary School.

Professor Marta Lee Alexander will spend one semester at Liepaja University, but Patricia Korea - the whole year of study.
